Practicing Love and Light in Real Life
Love and Light are not passive.
Love and Light can sound cliche and cult-like at times. I understand why some hear it that way.
The phrase has been used so often in spiritual spaces that it can start to feel like “something to say” to be polite. A nice blessing or peaceful sign-off with a spiritual sound without saying anything too specific.
But that’s not what I mean when I say Love and Light. Love and Light is active.
It’s not something we say to float above real life or to sound more enlightened. Love and Light are what we practice while living through this journey called life.
Love AND Light move through the way we speak to people and how we make decisions. They move through the way we care for ourselves, show up for others, tell the truth, create our work, use our energy, and participate in the world around us.
Love and Light aren’t passive because we aren’t passive.
Love and Light happen in the present
Before Love and Light become an action, they begin as presence. Presence is the moment we stop rushing past ourselves. It’s the moment when we notice what’s actually happening instead of immediately turning it into a story, a fear, a defense, or a lesson.
Without presence, we often move from habit. We repeat the same patterns, feed the same fears, rehearse the same reality, and wonder why the energy around us feels ineffective.
Presence interrupts the old pattern and helps us see other options. It brings us into a moment where a different choice is possible.
This is Love and Light in practice.
Love gives movement
Love is not just a feeling, it’s action.
When we live from Love, we’re not trying to become perfect, endlessly patient, or spiritually impressive. We’re trying to move out of fear into connection:
Listen more attentively.
Speak more honestly.
Take a breath break before resentment takes over.
Apologize.
Stop explaining ourselves to someone who is committed to misunderstanding us.
Love guides us to the next step that supports our true self.
This is where Love becomes active.
It’s not just an idea that warms our hearts, it moves through behavior.
The text we send with care.
The boundary we state without cruelty.
The creative project we finally share.
The conversation we stop avoiding.
It becomes the way we remember our true selves instead of abandoning ourselves for approval.
Love is not weak. Love is one of the mightiest forces we can use.
Light focuses creativity
Light is energy with clarity. It helps us see what is true, and once we can see more clearly, we can create more intentionally.
Sometimes that truth is beautiful. Other times it’s uncomfortable. Often, it is both.
Light helps us notice when a path is aligned. It shows the next step. It also exposes where we’ve been shrinking, performing, delaying, overthinking, or handing our power to someone else.
Through this energy of Light, we create through the thoughts we feed, the choices we make, the words we speak, and the possibilities we allow ourselves to believe.
When our light is scattered, our energy becomes scattered too. We may create from fear, habit, or old stories without realizing it.
When Light brings awareness, we can pause and choose differently.
Higher consciousness is not about escaping ordinary life.
It’s about becoming more awake inside it.
Light helps us become awake, so we can participate and create more intentionally.
A simple Love and Light check-in
When you are unsure how to move forward, try asking three questions:
What would bring me back into the present moment?
What would Love do through me here?
What is Light helping me see and create?
Sometimes the answer will be obvious. Other times, the answer will come slowly. That is fine too.
Love and Light is participation
One of the clearest themes in the Lumer Council teachings is participation. We’re not here to watch life happen around us.
We’re not here to wait for the world to become kinder, wait for everyone else to become conscious first, or wait until we feel fully ready before we begin living differently.
We participate through our energy, our thoughts, our words. Through the way we treat people and ourselves when we’re tired and frustrated.
Our participation also shows up through the reality we rehearse each day. If I spend the day feeding fear, replaying old conversations, dismissing every possibility, and calling that “being realistic,” I am participating in one kind of energy.
If I pause, return to the present moment, tell the truth to myself, and choose one action aligned with the life I want to create, then I can participate in another kind of energy.
Love and Light guide us to more positive ways to participate.
What active Love and Light can look like
Active Love and Light is often ordinary. They don’t always look mystical. They don’t always arrive with a vision, a message, or a dramatic breakthrough.
Love and Light become real when they bring awareness to the places where we usually go unconscious.
The instant reply.
The rash decision.
The automatic habit.
The thought we keep feeding.
The way we speak to ourselves when no one else can hear it.
This is where the energy of Love and Light becomes life. This is where we can make different choices, redirect our energy, and create the lives we desire.
Living the teaching
Love and Light isn’t a phrase we use to end a conversation. It’s a way we enter one. It’s a way we choose and create.
This is how we remember ourselves. We remember that our energy isn’t separate from the world around us. We’re always participating.
When we live in Love and Light, we participate with more presence, more clarity, more care, and more truth.
In Love (action) and Light (energy),
